TFH ARCHERFIELD MIDGET SERIES ROUNDS 1 AND 2 WRAPPED UP
Well race fans that is the first two rounds in the TFH Archerfield Midget Series done and dusted with a few guys opening the point bank with rather healthy deposits
Chris “The Captian” Singleton took out the seasons very first GSA Fastman Award on the opening night in the Nexgen Hire/Williams Graphix Spike Chev 46Q clocking a 14.779 and sat at the top of the ladder from the other 17 entrants
The ATG Heat Race Hustler $30 awards were spread between Chris Singleton in his 46Q , Tom Clauss in his 45Q TPC Earthmoving Eagle Chassis machine and Darren Vine in the Craig Thompson Machining 6Q SR11 King bagging two victories in the other two heat race events
Darren Vine was the eventual nights Highest Points Scorer and drew marble 1 to start off pole with the remaining marbles in invert grids 4, 6 and 8 staying put
Brad “The Bandit” Dawson parked his GSA Advanced Machining/United Waste Services in victory lane christening the car for main event victories and the new season, Rusty Whittaker came from grid 9 to follow the 81Q home for 2nd in the 17Q Steelmart Sunshine Coast/RAW Metal Corp Breka Esslinger while Darren Vine crossed in 3rd with the Craig Thompson Machining/Men at Work Exhausts 6Q
The opening night Speedy Air Conditioning Hard Charger “Coolest Fifty” went the way of “The Smooth Mover” Zac MacDonald in the 23Q Johnny Mac Towing Spike Hawk
Lachy Paulger took out the Bob Baker Challenge taking the grid in what was to be lucky 13th for that effort he walked away $500 richer
The night was unfortunately brought to an abrupt end for Matt O’Neill when he found the turn three wall in the hot lap session ending his night right there , Charlie Brown found the same spot while leading his one and only heat race of the night both cars going in hard and not returning
Night two was a Time Trail determined format and once the sessions were done Darren Vine rattled the timing boards with a 13.808 in the King Chassis SR11 and picking up his first GSA Fastman tank sticker for the season
ATG Heat Race Hustlers were Ricky Robinson in the Watts Fabrication 56Q Breka, Scotty Doyle with the TI Bolts and Race Partz 8Q, Darren Vine picked up another while the 37Q ATG Car of Lachy Paulger took out of one pocket the $30 and into the other as he opened the scoring on heat wins
Rusty Whittaker was the Highest Points Scorer after the 4 heat races and like Viney the night before drew marble one to keep the grids as they were
Whittaker also went on to take the TFH Archerfield Midget Series feature event in the Steelmart Sunshine Coast/APC 17Q ahead of Lachy Paulgers 37Q ATG/Total Cooling Services Eagle Chassis while Viney wrapped up the podium in 3rd after the duration of laps.
Tom Clauss picked up the Speedy Air Conditioning “Coolest 50” Award while the Bob Baker $500 went home with Bob for night two
Tom Clauss unfortunately was the night’s biggest roll over riding another cars right rear down the pit straight which sent the 45Q racer hard into the turn three wall ending his weekend, Tom emerging ok but the Springfield Lakes Panel and Paint car will need some TLC before its next outing
That’s a wrap!
